I am a writer on Medium since 2018. I am not in the $100 club, not even overall time. It is quite discouraging. Of course, I do not write just for money, and that may be why I do not make much here. So many of the richer writers boast of how much they make and how many of their articles Medium curates then they go viral. Good for them.
I write for recreation but also to inform. So, if seven people read my article and three get something out of it, that makes it worth it. I believe I am one of those who because of what I write — Catholic spirituality — often of a progressive nature, and how it is perceived, I am just not on the curatable list.
I say this because my writing gets decent traffic from Reddit but not paying traffic. I am not a leftist nor a rightest, I am actually so far to the right, I am on the left.
One article — two views
However, one article I wrote had only two views — the lowest of all except my unlisted ones. It now has four. I knew then I needed to focus on publishing elsewhere. I use Medium to sharpen my writing skills and use them on other platforms and for other off-Medium publications.
I still want to write to make a difference and that is why the article that you did not read bothered me so much.
